Purpose in the Pain
Trusting God’s Plan While Living With Sarcoidosis
When Illness Changes Your Life Path
Sarcoidosis can change careers, relationships, routines, and dreams. You may mourn the version of yourself you once were. It’s okay to grieve those losses.
But illness does not erase purpose.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
God’s plans are not canceled by diagnosis.
God Can Use Your Story
Your journey—your pain, perseverance, and faith—can become a source of hope for others. Many people living with sarcoidosis feel unseen and misunderstood. Your voice matters.
Even when you don’t feel strong, your testimony speaks.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.”
Romans 8:28 (NIV)
“All things” includes chronic illness.
You Still Have Value
Sarcoidosis may limit what you can do, but it does not limit who you are. You are still loved. You are still chosen. You are still valuable.
Your worth is not measured by productivity, energy levels, or physical ability. It is rooted in Christ.
Holding Onto Eternal Hope
Even when healing on earth feels uncertain, believers hold onto eternal hope—hope beyond pain, beyond disease, beyond limitation.
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.”
2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)
This is not the end of your story.
A Prayer for Purpose
Prayer:
Lord, help me trust You when I don’t understand this journey. Show me that my life still has meaning, even in illness. Use my story for good, and remind me daily that You are working all things together for Your glory. Amen.
