Strength for Today

Leaning on God During Sarcoidosis Flares and Setbacks

When Symptoms Return Unexpectedly

Few things are as discouraging as feeling better—only to experience another flare. Sarcoidosis does not always follow a straight path, and that unpredictability can lead to anxiety, disappointment, and emotional exhaustion.

But God’s strength is not dependent on your circumstances.

God’s Strength Is Made Perfect in Weakness

The Apostle Paul understood chronic struggle. He prayed repeatedly for relief, yet God answered in an unexpected way:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Your weakness does not disqualify you. It becomes the place where God’s power is most evident.

Faith Is Choosing God Even on Hard Days

Some days faith looks like worship.
Other days it looks like survival.

On flare days, faith may simply be whispering, “God, help me get through today.” That prayer matters.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”
Lamentations 3:22–23 (NIV)

Every day you wake up is evidence of God’s sustaining grace.

You Are Allowed to Lament

God invites honesty. The Psalms are filled with cries of frustration, fear, and sorrow. Lament is not a lack of faith—it is faith expressed through honesty.

If sarcoidosis has made you angry, confused, or discouraged, God can handle it. He would rather hear your real heart than polished words.

A Prayer for Strength

Prayer:
God, today my body feels weak and my spirit is tired. I need Your strength, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Help me lean on You when I feel like I have nothing left. Thank You for carrying me through each moment. Amen.
